We are seeking an inspirational leader for our School of Social and Political Sciences. The successful post-holder will be a member of the College Management Team, which is comprised of Heads of School, and other senior academic and professional services staff, and will report directly to the PVC/Head of College.

The School houses Politics and International Relations, Criminology, Social Policy and Sociology. The School has a well-established and expanding academic profile in both learning and teaching and research. The new Head will lead the School and play a key role in shaping its future in line with the University’s and College’s broader strategies. The Head will be responsible for ensuring excellence in external assessments such as the REF, TEF and NSS, overseeing the School’s portfolio of programmes, maintaining and building new academic and research partnerships, coordinating and facilitating its research and income generation activities, as well as enhancing the national and international reputation of the School.

The post would suit someone who would relish an opportunity to make a difference in an ambitious institution, and to take the School to the next level in its development. We are looking for a candidate with experience of leadership within their discipline and applications are particularly welcomed from those whose research interests fit broadly within our existing research areas. The post may attract professorial status for suitably qualified applicants.
