The University strategy describes that the University of Lincoln will be a global thought leader for 21st Century higher education. It will grow and enhance the wider student experience, trial and adapt new approaches to teaching. It will develop its approach to research through collaboration both within and beyond the University to create impactful research partnerships. The intention of the University’s five-year plan is to experiment, innovate and explore new ways of working in higher education practice.

The University is now extremely reliant on digital services and tools in every area. The ICT strategy has created an approach to the development and delivery of digital services that removes the constraints previously placed upon the growth and development of the University. The move to remote teaching, learning and working resulting from the global pandemic has demonstrated the success of the University’s ICT strategy.

The effective and efficient operation of ICT services is critical to the continuing success and operation of the University. The development of new and existing services and systems is even more essential in the current circumstances to support the development and growth of the University.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the University’s ICT team as Deputy Director, Head of Technical Services. The role is responsible for the management of infrastructure, AV, operations, and service desk teams, which deliver, support and develop the ICT infrastructure.

The infrastructure includes: a hybrid data centre environment combining Hyper-V on campus with Microsoft Azure; an on campus Cisco network; a range of SaaS delivered business solutions; and centrally managed AV across the majority of teaching spaces.

The Deputy Director is a member of the ICT senior management team and will contribute to the strategic direction of the department. The role is a key point of contact with the ICT Department for senior colleagues and student leaders within the University.

If you want a role that is more than just keeping the lights on, if you want to contribute directly to the success of a university that is continually growing and developing, then this may just be the job for you.
