The College of Social Science is seeking a Director of Academic Quality & Standards to oversee quality assurance and academic development of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as well as to provide strategic oversight and development of its portfolio of degrees, professional programmes and short courses. You will have a passion for ensuring that students graduate with the necessary skills and experience to make a positive contribution to society, both locally and globally.

As a member of the College Leadership Team, and reporting to the Pro Vice Chancellor, you will play a key role in the implementation of key quality assurance processes, as well as working with the College Director of Education in leading quality enhancement activities within the College. You will also work closely with the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Development and Engagement) to embed and operationalise institutional priorities at the College level. 

You will be an experienced academic in a relevant discipline, with a driving commitment to excellence in quality assurance, the vision and experience to develop an innovative strategy in portfolio development, and the skills to influence, motivate and inspire academic staff to fulfil that vision. Your background will include quality assurance, substantial experience as an outstanding teacher, innovation in teaching and learning, and academic leadership of others.

This post provides an opportunity for a senior academic with a strong track record in teaching and learning / quality assurance to develop a managerial career.

The Director will also be associated with of one of the College’s Schools (Education, Health & Social Care, Law, Psychology, Social and Political Sciences, and Sport and Exercise Science) dedicating up to 20% of their time to academic duties in the school.
