This is a fixed term, part time post of 0.1 FTE until 12 months after start date

Interview Date:   Wednesday 01 July 2020

The University of Lincoln has embarked on an exciting partnership with the University of Nottingham to provide undergraduate medical education in Lincolnshire, at scale, for the first time.  The first group of medical students began their studies at the University of Lincoln’s Brayford Pool campus in September 2019.

We are seeking to recruit a part-time GP Lecturer in Clinical Skills within the team that will deliver the Early Years & BMedSci for the BMBS medicine course (A10L & A18L) at Lincoln Medical School and reporting to the Director of Clinical Skills.  Teaching will mainly take the form of facilitating small group teaching, and there will also be responsibilities to contribute to assessment, evaluation and quality assurance of the programme.

The post will be based at the University of Lincoln Brayford Pool Campus, but travel to the University of Nottingham and other sites where the University of Nottingham Medicine course is delivered will also be required.

The University of Lincoln has an excellent reputation for providing an outstanding student experience, ranking 7th in the UK for overall satisfaction in the 2018 National Student Survey and 22nd overall in the Guardian University Guide 2019.Our modern campus sits beside the picturesque Brayford Pool marina, with views of the ancient castle and cathedral just beyond.

Working in new or newly-converted facilities until the new medical school building is complete in 2021, you will join a progressive, goal-oriented team of academic and professional services colleagues to deliver excellence in medical education and an outstanding student experience within the University of Nottingham’s Early Years and BMedSci medical curriculum model.

Teaching sessions are timetabled on a Wednesday with the exception of two Foundation Year Clinical Skills sessions so some flexibility in availability will be needed.  In addition, the post holder may be asked to support other medical school teaching eg hospital visits, summer school etc.

If you are looking for the challenge of establishing one of the UK’s new medical schools, with the potential to shape the hearts, minds and skills of the doctors of the future, this may be the opportunity for you.

Candidates must be on the GMC general practice register, hold a licence to practise, and be a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners.  This post is suitable for GPs who are interested in developing and consolidating a career in Medical Education.

An annualised hours contract may be available with the agreement of the Director of Clinical Skills, but there would be an expectation that the post holder would be available to work throughout the university term times.

Salary will depend on seniority.
