            <p data-pasted="true">The School of Natural Sciences is looking to strengthen our current teaching and research provision as we look to deliver on the new University Strategy. We are building on an internationally recognised research and teaching environment with a focus on interdisciplinary working and research-led teaching. The School currently delivers a range of undergraduate BSc degrees including Animal Behaviour and Welfare, Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Science, Bioveterinary Science, Ecology and Conservation, and Zoology, as well as a number of MSc programmes.&nbsp;</p><p>Complementing our modern teaching laboratories we also have exceptional research facilities in the Joseph Banks Laboratories and Minster House, where faculty, graduate and undergraduate project students collaborate in a well-equipped, vibrant and exciting environment. Our ambitions require us to continue delivering excellent research-led teaching, with world-class research supported by significant external funding.</p><p>To help us achieve these ambitions, a 1-year, full-time lectureship is now available to support the delivery of teaching across our BSc Ecology and Conservation and related programmes at UG and PG level. We are specifically looking for a candidate&nbsp;capable of teaching conservation biology and contributing towards the teaching of undergraduate data skills using R.             <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">The School of Natural Sciences at the University of Lincoln seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Clinical Animal Behaviour to support teaching and scholarship across our undergraduate and postgraduate provision and the work of the University of Lincoln Animal Behaviour Clinic.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;"><strong>The post requires a MRCVS veterinarian</strong> (registered to practise in the UK) who has expertise in Behavioural Medicine and who would be interested in teaching extensively (but not exclusively) on the MSc in Clinical Animal Behaviour and taking over management of the clinic. A higher qualification or accreditation in Behavioural Medicine is desirable, alternatively the willingness to work towards this would be considered.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The successful applicant will work as part of a small and supportive clinical team comprising a European Specialist, Residents of the ECAWBM and Non-Veterinary Behaviourists, one holding a CCAB accreditation, as well as alongside the wider School of Natural Sciences staff, which enables interdisciplinary collaborations.           <title><![CDATA[Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Microplastics in Archaeological Samples (CHS325)]]></title>

            <p style="margin-left:0cm;" data-pasted="true">This 30-month PDRA position in microplastics and geochemistry at the University of Lincoln seeks to understand the presence of microplastic contamination in archaeological sediments from sites around the U.K. as well as their impacts on selected artefacts. The successful candidate will lead a blended field- and laboratory-based research project quantifying the levels and types of plastic polymers in selected archaeological samples. The laboratory aspects involve analytical geochemistry and chemistry approaches including a long term mesocosm investigation of the potential impacts of microplastics on artefacts of differing compositions.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">This project is part of the wider AHRC-funded &lsquo;MicroPast&rsquo; Project, Challenging the Preservation Paradigm: The Impact of Microplastics on the Integrity of Archaeological Soils and Sediments, co-ordinated by University of York but also involving York Archaeology Trust and University of Hull. The work will deliver both cutting edge microplastics science as well as assessing the impact of plastics on archaeological preservation.&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The PDRA will be a member of research groups within the School of Natural Sciences. The appointee will work closely with colleagues from across the universities and wider project partner network.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">Research tasks will include (but are not restricted to):</p><div style="margin-left:0cm;"><ul style="margin-left: 32.55px;"><li style="margin-left:0cm;">Compiling and analysing datasets on microplastic concentration in waters, soils and sediments and geospatial data relevant to assessing contamination risk at archaeological sites;</li><li style="margin-left:0cm;">Working&nbsp;alongside others in the team, to decide locations for sampling based on data review and stakeholder engagement;</li><li style="margin-left:0cm;">Conducting sample digests, filtrations and microplastics analyses using micro-Fournier Transform InfraRed spectroscopy;</li><li style="margin-left:0cm;">Conducting a long term mesocosm investigation using soils and sediments spiked with microplastics;</li><li style="margin-left:0cm;">Working&nbsp;with project partners to integrate findings of laboratory mesocosms with archaeological site-based contamination risk assessments</li></ul></div><p style="margin-left:0cm;">The PDRA will also lead in the production of high-quality research outputs, including presentations, reports, papers and other publications of national/international standing.</p><p style="margin-left:0cm;">If you have any queries or would like further information, please contact Professor Jeanette Rotchell, College Director of Research, at <a href="mailto:jrotchell@lincoln.ac.uk">jrotchell@lincoln.ac.uk</a>.&nbsp;</p>
