The School of Creative Arts and Design at the University of Lincoln is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Lecturer in Photography to join our creative community on a 0.5 FTE basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging academic or experienced photography practitioner looking to take their first substantive role in higher education.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about photography, contemporary visual culture, and creative education. You will contribute to the delivery and development of our BA Photography programme, helping students develop the creative, technical, and professional skills needed to thrive in today's photographic industries.

You will:

• Teach and assess across photography modules.
• Support students through tutoring, project supervision, and constructive feedback.
• Contribute to curriculum development and enhancement.

You should have:

• A relevant honours degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Higher education teaching experience or significant industry experience.

This post will be based at the University of Lincoln’s Maritime Studies Centre at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, Devon.

The University of Lincoln is the Higher Education partner in the Team Fisher consortium which is tasked with delivering and modernising Royal Navy training and education through ‘Project Selborne’. A key part of the University’s role is to deliver education in core academic disciplines, both arts and sciences, to Royal Navy officers undergoing training at Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC). These subjects are delivered within the professional pathway for Royal Navy officers and, in many cases, lead to the award of Level 5 and Level 6 degree qualifications.

As a Lecturer in Seapower, you will be based at BRNC Dartmouth as part of the Maritime Studies Centre staff in a teaching, scholarly and professional practice (TSPP) position. Your role will be to undertake lecturing in subjects relating to maritime strategy, naval history, contemporary security and international affairs, as well as making relevant connections across all taught disciplines. The role will include a number of key enabling aspects including Personal Tutoring, academic outreach activities, marking and assessment, and Continuous Professional Development including research outputs and pedagogical innovation. For Lecturer candidates, scholarly practice and associated research will be a priority. For Senior Lecturer candidates, there will be a requirement for academic leadership and management including Programme and Module leadership, development and modernisation.

We are looking for a motivated, innovative, and collaborative expert in maritime and naval affairs who is able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team and who is committed to the delivery and modernisation of Royal Navy Officer education. While this is not a formal research post, the Maritime Studies Centre places a high value on published work and the role will allow time for producing research which supports the goals of the Centre.

You will have a relevant honours degree, a Masters Degree or equivalent and / or, ideally, a PhD in a related discipline.  A Post-graduate qualification or equivalent in Higher Education or Teaching and Learning is desirable and if not possessed you will be supported in achieving Higher Education Association (HEA) status.

This is a Teaching and Research post, with an expected balance between sustaining the post-holder’s own high-quality research profile and providing leadership across research-related teaching and staff research development. The successful candidate will be an active researcher in a health or care-related field represented within the School, with a strong track record of research outputs, research leadership and research-informed teaching.

The post-holder will be expected to develop their own programme of research aligned with School, College and University priorities, contributing to outputs, funding activity, impact, postgraduate research supervision and future REF ambitions. They will also play a key role in strengthening research culture across the School by supporting academic colleagues to develop their research confidence, capability and activity.

The role will include leadership and oversight of shared research teaching across the School, working with programme teams to support coherence, quality and innovation in research-related teaching and learning. This will include enabling students across undergraduate and postgraduate health and care programmes to engage with research, evidence-informed practice and inquiry-led learning.

We are seeking a collegiate academic leader who can combine an active personal research profile with the ability to inspire, support and develop others. The successful candidate will contribute to the wider development and management of the School and College, supporting strategic priorities and helping to build a positive, inclusive and ambitious academic culture.
