About Lincoln

The University is set at the heart of the historic and picturesque city of Lincoln. The city attracts more than a million visitors a year and has a long and fascinating history which is evident from its sites of interest and beautiful architecture. Lincoln Cathedral is one of the finest medieval buildings in Europe and Lincoln Castle houses one of only four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta, which was signed in 1215. Lincoln also hosts one of the largest Christmas markets in Europe.

The winning combination of a vibrant city centre and broad range of cultural activities and venues, makes Lincoln a fantastic environment in which to live and work.

Our stunning Brayford Pool campus is situated in the city centre with academic buildings, accommodation, shops, restaurants and cinema all within walking distance.

Our Riseholme Park campus is set in an idyllic parkland environment just three miles north of the city centre. Staff can travel between the two campuses for free on the shuttle bus service.

In the Cultural Quarter you will find the new £12 million museum – The Collection: Art and Archaeology in Lincolnshire. Arts venues include the beautifully restored Lincoln Drill Hall, Theatre Royal and, on the University campus, the Lincoln Performing Arts Centre (LPAC) which is developing a distinctive programme of international music, drama and dance.

Also on campus, the Engine Shed is a major music and performance venue on the national circuit, attracting names such as Kings of Leon, Doves, Human League, and Florence and the Machine.
