Salary competitive
Closing Date:   Thursday 24 October 2019
Interview Date:   Tuesday 17 December 2019

Lincoln is one of Britain’s most beautiful small cities, crowned by its medieval cathedral and Norman castle. Within this context, the University of Lincoln is an institution which looks to the future with strong links to its past, addressing the opportunities and challenges presented by a changing world. Under the leadership of Professor Mary Stuart, Lincoln has grown in strength and impact. Research impact has grown through significant investment in infrastructure and capability. It has also expanded from 8,000 students to over 15,000, working closely with students to continually improve their experience.

In the last decade, Medieval Studies has become a major focus for historical research at the University, and we now wish to appoint a Chair of Medieval Studies to further develop this work, growing the impact and reach of the Medieval Studies Research Centre. Housed within the College of Arts, and with access to the University’s Institute of Advanced Studies, the Centre builds on the already strong relationships with key partners such as Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle. The Centre draws in colleagues across the UK and internationally to create a vibrant interdisciplinary community of scholarship. Reporting to Professor John Morrison, Head of Lincoln School of History & Heritage, the ideal candidate will have an international reputation in a relevant area of Medieval Studies, with a proven track record of high-quality publication and successful grant applications. Candidates with a research interest in the history of late medieval England/Northern Europe who are able to make use of our rich local holdings in their research are particularly welcome.

The University of Lincoln is an ambitious institution currently in a period of significant growth. We hope very much that you will join us at this exciting moment in our history.
